The Opportunity Council’s annual Dine Out for Maple Alley Inn event in May raised more than $22,000 to help provide hot meals for people in need.
The event was held May 7 in partnership with more than 50 local restaurants that donated 20 percent of their day’s sales to Maple Alley Inn.
“We’re grateful to the participating Dine Out restaurants and all the donors who dined out and contributed to make this a great success,” said Debbie Paton, Opportunity Council’s community services director, in a press release. “This support, together with our community partners and volunteers, is essential to helping us continue providing hot nutritious meals and resources for people in need.”
Maple Alley Inn staff and volunteers serve hot lunches at Faith Lutheran Church on McLeod Road in Bellingham on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and breakfast at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Old Parish Hall on Walnut Street in Bellingham on Tuesdays.
Business and media sponsors for this event include Whatcom Educational Credit Union, Bellingham Cold Storage, Lithtex NW, The Bellingham Herald and Cascade Radio Group.
The Opportunity Council is a nonprofit community action agency providing housing, food resources, energy assistance, weatherization, early learning programs, child care resources and more.
