The 11th annual Dirty Dan Day Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, on the Fairhaven Village Green at the corner of 10th Street and Mill Avenue.
As a celebration of Fairhaven’s community founder, “Dirty” Dan Harris, the family-friendly event will feature food and games, including a cupcake eating contest, a salmon toss, music and an uphill piano race that takes place at “high noon.”
The popular feature event is the Chuckanut Chowder Cook-off, with local restaurants vying for the title each year. Tickets for chowder sampling and voting with be available for $10. The cook-off takes place from 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
A beer garden will also be open from noon to 4 p.m.
The event is produced by the Old Fairhaven Association, a nonprofit organization focused on promoting and preserving the historical character of the Fairhaven District. Sponsors of the event include Avenue Bread, Bornstein Seafoods, Dirty Dan Harris Steakhouse and Vis Seafoods.
