Nonprofit event focuses on working with students, interns

The Whatcom Council of Nonprofits, a program of the nonprofit Whatcom Community Foundation, will host a Peer Learning Brown Bag Discussion on Thursday, July 18, that will focus on working with students and interns.

The event will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Whatcom Community Foundation’s offices, 119 Grand Ave., Suite A, in downtown Bellingham.

Guest speakers Jan Adams, the cooperative education and internships coordinator at Whatcom Community College, and April McMurray from the Center for Service-Learning at Western Washington University, will discuss various kinds of service-learning partnerships that can help nonprofit organizations.

In addition to the monthly Brown Bag discussions, the Council provides other resources to the nonprofit sector, including bi-weekly e-newsletters, a nonprofit scheduling calendar, bi-annual networking “Schmooze Fests,” and round-table events for executive directors.
