The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center is accepting registrations for its intensive 40-hour course on interest-based mediation in March.
Participants will learn the eight-stage, interest-based mediation model, practice active listening techniques and participate in mock mediations.
The course will be held March 13-15 and March 20-22. On Wednesdays, it runs from 1-5 p.m., and on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Advance registration is required, and the course fee is $595.
The instructor is WDRC’s executive director, Moonwater, an experienced mediator, facilitator and trainer, Moonwater has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Whitman College and an MPA from Seattle University, where she specialized in nonprofit management.
She serves on Whatcom County’s Law and Justice Council, is a former board member of the Washington Mediation Association, and is co-president of Resolution Washington.
