The Pickford Film Center, SPARK Museum, everybodyBIKE and Mount Bakery are co-producing the fifth annual Bellingham Bike-In on Friday, Aug. 16, in front of 1318 Bay St. in downtown Bellingham.
The event is planned to be a celebration of the bicycle as a mode of transportation and recreation as well as a chance to watch a movie (“Young Frankenstein”), drink locally brewed beer, and take in music in the heart of Bellingham’s Arts District.
It also include a pre-movie parade led by everybodyBIKE, music provided by Hot Damn Scandal, a beer garden featuring Boundary Bay brews and a “Bicycle Show ‘n Shine” with prizes awarded to the winners. In addition, SPARK will present an electrical display and the short film, “Notbad,” sponsored by Kulshan Cycles, will be shown before the main feature.
The bike parade starts at about 6 p.m. and other festivities will begin at 7 p.m. Movies are set to start at about 8:45 p.m. Limited seating will be provided on the street with folding chairs, but attendees are encouraged to bring chairs is also highly encouraged. The event is free, but donations will be accepted.
