Explorations Academy awarded AmeriCorps development position

Explorations Academy, a Bellingham-based nonprofit educational program for high school students, has been awarded a yearlong AmeriCorps VISTA position by the Opportunity Council.

The academy will recruit potential hires throughout February. The position, a resource development assistant, starts in April.

“This position is an ideal platform for a mature, creative, and organized individual to build outreach and fund development capacity for our independent high school as we experience increased enrollment,” Explorations director Daniel Kirkpatrick said, in a Feb. 1 press release. “We are grateful for the funding provided through the CNCS.”

The position is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency that supports more than 5 millions Americans in service each year.

Explorations Academy, at 1701 Ellis St. Suite 215, is part of the Global Community Institute, a nonprofit educational organization founded in Bellingham in 1988. It can be found online at www.explorationsacademy.org.
