Ferndale builder elected president of state building association

Whatcom County builder and Ferndale resident Monty Smith has been elected president of the Building Industry Association of Washington(BIAW).

Smith was formerly the organization’s first vice president. He has been building homes in Whatcom County for 25 years and has been a BIAW member for 20 years.

Smith has also held several leadership positions with the local branch of BIAW, the Building Industry Association of Whatcom County(BIAWC). He was BIAWC President in 2006 and 2007.

“Monty is a proven leader in the Washington home building industry and en exemplar of quality both in construction and his community,” BIAW’s executive vice president Art Castle said in a press release. “I am looking forward to working with him over the course of the year.”
