Thirty teams and individuals will present their creations made from discarded wedding dresses at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 1, during Ragfinery’s “Upcycle Challenge — Transform a Wedding Dress,” event.
The free event takes place at Ragfinery in downtown Bellingham, at 1421 N. Forest St.
Participants will wear, roll or drag their creations down a red carpet and judges and the audience will vote on three categories: concept, artistic creativity, and craftsmanship, according to a news release from Ragfinery. Winners will receive cash and gift prizes from numerous local sponsors. The event will also have music and refreshments.
“Participants have been putting a lot of work into these creations and I’m guessing there are going to be some really amazing items brought down that red carpet,” Ragfinery manager Shan Sparling said in the news release.
