Fit Adventure has settled into a larger location at 1812 N. State St. in the same building as Fanatik Bike.
The gym had been located in a 750-square-foot space in Fairhaven. The new space is 3,500 square feet and has enough room for all the training equipment, owner Tonia Boze said.
Boze opened the business in 2007 after working as a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym in Bellingham. She branched out on her own to build a training program for outdoor athletes. The training focuses on using barbells, kettlebells and body weight exercises in a way that prepares athletes for outdoor sports.
Fit Adventure is affiliated with the Mountain Athlete training program in Jackson, Wyo., whose program Boze modeled hers after.
“I would say about 40 percent of people that come in are outdoor serious athletes, 60 percent are just people who just want to get in peak condition,” Boze said. “I try to encourage everyone to get outside on days when we don’t train. The gym is not our sport — the outdoors are.”
Fit Adventure offers small group training sessions and private coaching. For more information, call (360) 815-4051 or visit www.bhamfitadventure.com.
