Free parking in downtown Bellingham through Dec. 25

Bellingham parking-enforcement workers will not be checking metered stalls downtown or pay-to-park spaces on the first floor of the Commercial Street parking structure from Monday, Dec. 9 to Wednesday Dec. 25.

The city typically lifts paid-parking requirements in Bellingham’s Central Business District during the holiday season to encourage local shopping and support of downtown arts and civic organizations.

“We’re proud to support our downtown businesses and our arts and civic organizations,” Bellingham Mayor Kelli Linville said, in a news release. “We hope throughout the holiday season people will take advantage of fun, family-oriented events, unique shopping and dining, and everything else our wonderful downtown has to offer.”

The city has been collaborating the Downtown Bellingham Partnership, local business owners and others to promote events and activities during the holidays. For more information visit www.downtownbellingham.com or www.cob.org.
