Daytime parking in downtown Bellingham metered spaces will be free between Dec. 10 and Dec. 25.
The city is giving its automated pay stations and parking meters a break to let holiday shoppers support downtown business.
City officials are asking drivers to park responsibly in designated spaces and observe the time limits posted on parking meters. Those who wish to remain downtown all day are encouraged to park in the parking structure on Commercial Street or in 8-hour metered locations, which will also be free until Christmas Day.
Monthly permit parking and time-limited areas will continue to be enforced.
Parking in downtown Bellingham is always free on weekends and holidays.
