Kim Honorof of Lynden has opened Among Friends Adult Family Home, specializing in residential care for senior citizens and those with disabilities.
Among Friends provides residents home-cooked meals and help with daily living needs, including bathing, medication and laundry. Honorof will also facilitate transportation, lead “Sit and Be Fit” exercises and take residents on outings.
“I want our residents to be active and have what they need for an enriched life,” Honorof said in a news release. “They’ll be part of my family with my two daughters and our pets.”
A state-licensed facility, Among Friends offers six first-floor rooms, including two that can be double-occupancy accommodations, at 612 Dahlia St. The facility also includes two medical massage chairs, a 50-inch flat-screen television and a backyard with a pond, waterfall, fountain and koi fish.
Honorof is certified as an adult family home administrator and has two years of experience as a caregiver serving clients with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and other disabilities. She also has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and is a nurse assistant.
Among Friends will host open houses with tours, refreshments, massages and live entertainment from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 16 and April 23. For more information, call (360) 393-4661.
