The Fun with the Fuzz Run, held April 23, raised approximately $20,000 for the Behind the Badge Foundation, said race director and Bellingham police officer Kyle Nelson.
Behind the Badge is a nonprofit organization that provides financial support for families of Washington state law enforcement officers who have been killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.
The 5K competition, now in its second year, was created by active Bellingham police officers in cooperation with the Bellingham Police Department. Racers started and finished at the downtown police station, winding through the Columbia and Lettered Streets neighborhoods en route.
Bellingham’s North Coast Credit Union was a title sponsor of the event and employees and members contributed $1,800 to Behind the Badge.
