Sunset Drive, Suite 105, is now registering people for free classes in the eight-week session that runs from Jan. 4 through Feb. 25, 2010. These courses teach people with significant barriers to employment valuable skills needed to find and keep jobs.

Classes fill up fast, and sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis, so contact the center soon to reserve a spot.

The center will offer the following classes:

  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL): Basic and intermediate courses in English will be offered, as well as a course to help immigrants get United States citizenship.
  • Computer Basics: Introductory course for people with very little or no computer experience and includes information on Windows, basic Word and Excel documents, files and folders, the Internet and e-mail.
  • GED preparation classes
  • Customer Service: This course covers basic communication and customer service skills needed for retail or office jobs. Includes instruction on basic cash handling, but this is NOT a cashiering class.
  • Career Building Assistance: Time with Goodwill instructors for help with career-related activities including conducting a job search, writing a resume and cover letter, interviewing and more.
