The Rustic Coffee & Wine Bar is the new name of a Fairhaven coffee shop that recently added wine, beer and appetizers to its menu.
“People with a palate for great coffee also enjoy wine,” said Donna Heerspink, who manages the restaurant and owns it with husband Norm Heerspink. “Our warm, inviting environment that people love in the morning and afternoon also is ideal for people who want to relax with a glass of wine in an intimate place rather than a noisy bar atmosphere.”
The Heerspinks, longtime Whatcom County residents, founded The Rustic Coffee Bar in 2008 at 1319 11th St. They’ve also owned the Muddy Waters espresso stand in Lynden since 2005.
The Rustic Coffee & Wine Bar offers Washington state vintages and some from renowned wine regions throughout the world, including Italy, France, Chile and Argentina. A selection of bottled beer, plus cheese, meat and hummus appetizer plates, also have been added to the menu. A happy hour from 4-6:30 p.m. each evening will feature a bottle of wine and a cheese plate for $16.
A grand reopening of The Rustic Coffee & Wine Bar is planned 5-7:30 p.m. Jan. 19, featuring free appetizers and local musician Doug Allen playing the acoustic guitar.
The Rustic Coffee & Wine Bar continues to provide coffee and espresso beverages, cider, hot chocolate, Italian sodas, pastries from the Lynden Dutch Bakery, breakfast wraps, paninis and soup. The new hours are 6:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Fridays, 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturdays and 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Sundays.
