Guy Occhiogrosso has been selected to serve as the next president and CEO of the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The chamber announced the news Tuesday, Jan. 28. Occhiogrosso has served as the executive director of the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce since August 2006.

He will begin his new role March 3.

Occhiogrosso’s first membership event will be the chamber’s monthly networking breakfast on Friday, March 14. His first public event will be a March 18 Chamber Speaker Series with Bellingham Mayor Kelli Linville and Whatcom County Executive Jack Louws.

Bill Gorman, who had served as the chamber’s interim CEO since last May, stepped down from the role Dec. 31.

The chamber’s previous president, Ken Oplinger, left last May. Oplinger had held the position since 2003.
