Haggen launches community food drive

Haggen has launched its annual Feed the Need Community Food Drive. The goal this year is to collect at least 300,000 pounds of food. All Haggen stores will collect donations until Oct. 25. Customers can make a monetary donation at any check stand or donate shelf-stable goods in the stores. Customers can purchase pre-loaded bags for $5. Each bag has close to $8 in products.

The needs in communities served by Haggen stores continues to grow. Over the past five years, food bank visits have increased 50 percent. One in seven households now regularly uses a food bank.

Haggen has been running food drives for more than 20 years. Food banks served will include Bellingham Food Bank, Hillcrest Chapel and Ferndale Food Bank.
