Housing sale prices climb while the number of sales falls

Most housing statistics for July 2014 in Whatcom County – including average sale price, list price, and the amount of pending sales – increased slightly from July 2013, according to data the Northwest Multiple Listing Service released.

The number of closed sales is down slightly, with 305 this July. That’s a 5.56 percent decrease from last July, when 323 housing sales closed.

The average housing sale price for July was $295,193, up from $280,667 last July.

Currently, Whatcom County has 5.56 months of housing inventory. Generally, counties closest to Seattle have the least inventory, with King County having just 1.86 months of inventory.

Average list price—July 2014: 382,567; July 2013: $385,077.

Median list price—July 2014: $299,000; July 2013: $299,000.

Months of inventory: 5.56.
