Huxley College hosts talk on Bellingham Bay cleanup, May 22

Lee First, a pollution prevention specialist for RE Sources for Sustainable Communities, will give a free presentation on the ongoing cleanup of Bellingham Bay at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, in Room 100 of the Environmental Studies building at Western Washington University.

The talk, titled “Bellingham Bay Cleanup Sites:  History, Contamination, and Opportunities for Involvement,” is part of WWU’s Huxley College of the Environment Speaker Series.

First will cover cleanup processes occurring at three local sites: the central waterfront, the G-P West property and the Cornwall landfill. She will also describe the contaminants involved and the stage of cleanup at each of these sites, and share ideas on how to get involved with the cleanup efforts.
