IMCO General Construction of Ferndale has been awarded a contract by the Port of Seattle, worth more than $10.5 Million, for expansion and cleanup along the downtown Seattle waterfront at Terminal 117, according to a company announcement.
Located along the west bank of the Lower Duwamish Waterway in South Park, the project is part of a larger joint cleanup effort backed by the port and the city of Seattle. Crews will remove upland soil and river sediment to reduce hazardous material and contaminants to levels that will protect the river environment and reduce health risks to people in the area, according to IMCO.
Construction is expected to start in May 2013 and finish in early 2014.
IMCO submitted the lowest bid out of five general contractors last December.
The company has completed several other projects for the Port of Seattle in the past decade, recently completing improvements to Terminal 10 in downtown Seattle and two infrastructure projects along the ship canal in Ballard.
