Industrial Credit Union recently presented $1,000 scholarships to four students: Agbeko Petty, Tianna Schneider, Kelly Alleen and Karen Cooke.
Petty graduated in 2009 from Ferndale High School, where she was a student body officer and sports editor of the school’s newspaper. She is attending the University of Washington this fall to study business and marketing.
Schneider is enrolled at Whatcom Community College and plans to become a para-educator. She graduated from Mount Baker High School, where she was president of the Red Cross Club and competed in track and field.
Cooke, a working mother after graduating from Ferndale High School, is returning to school at Bellingham Technical College to earn an administrative assistant degree. Cooke said enhanced knowledge of computer programs would make her a more valuable employee.
Alleen is seeking a master’s degree in applied anthropology from Northern Arizona University. She previously attended Whatcom Community College and Western Washington University.
