State Rep. Jason Overstreet announced his candidacy for re-election to the state House 42nd Legislative District House seat.
Overstreet is currently serving his first term in the Legislature, which he was elected to in 2010 after serving for five years on the Blaine City Council.
”It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of the 42nd District in a principled, consistent, conservative manner,” Overstreet said in a May 7 press release. “I look forward to continuing to serve by example.”
He has lived in Whatcom County for 28 years, graduating from Lynden High School, Whatcom Community College and Bellingham Technical College.
The 37-year-old lawmaker is a U.S. Army veteran, professional firefighter of 12 years and a small-business owner.
He and his wife Jessica have been married for 16 years and have five children.
The “Vote Overstreet” team will hold a campaign kickoff from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, at Farmer Ben’s Family Farm, located at 1461 Van Dyk Road in Lynden.
