Darcy Jones, president of Jones Engineers, Inc., earned a professional LEED certification for neighborhood development in June.

LEED for neighborhood development integrates the principles of smart growth, urbanism and green building into neighborhood design, ensuring environmentally responsible, sustainable development.

Jones earned his master of science degree in regional planning from Huxley College of the Environment at Western Washington University in 1987. He has been involved in community planning and the design of sustainable land development projects, is a land planner certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners, and serves on the board of directors of the Building Industry Association of Whatcom County.
