Katie’s Cupcakes plans to celebrate its fourth anniversary on Saturday, March 30, with special cupcake recipe offers and visits from the authors and illustrators of the shop’s new line of children’s books.

The shop, located at 1005 Harris Ave. in Bellingham, was featured on a recent season of Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” baking-contest show. Owner and operator Katie Swanson won top prize in an episode that aired last October. Swanson won $10,000 in prize money.

Since then, Katie’s Cupcakes has expanded its cupcake brand to include apparel and children’s books featuring a variety of cupcake characters.

The shop has specials and events throughout March 23-30, including book readings with Katie Swanson at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on March 30.
