Katie’s Cupcakes, located in Fairhaven, will compete in an upcoming episode of the TV show “Cupcake Wars,” on the Food Network.

Owner Katie Swanson and baking assistant Kelsey Schaeffer will go head-to-head with three other bakeries from around the country on the premiere of the show’s seventh season at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7.

The bakery is also hosting a private viewing party at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, at the Mount Baker Theatre in downtown Bellingham, for people who would like to taste the specialty cupcakes made for the show. The party will include Boundary Bay beer, wine and other refreshments.

Katie’s Cupcakes is located at 1005 Harris Ave., in Bellingham’s Fairhaven District. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
