Kelly Spiker, a barista at The Woods Coffee, won first place in the non-alcoholic category of the Drink Throw Down, a drink competition in Seattle sponsored by Ghirardelli. Spiker’s drink will be promoted at Woods Coffee location beginning this winter.
Spiker combined a rich, dark-chocolate coffee drink infused with orange zest and a hint of cinnamon that she called the Chocolate Dreamsicle. She won a $250 prize for her creation.
“(The competition) was a fun opportunity to be creative and participate with fellow baristas in a friendly competition,” Spiker said in a press release. “I am looking forward to participating again next year!”
