Kiwanis Club installs new officers, awards members

The Kiwanis Club of Bellingham recently installed officers for the 2010-2011 Kiwanis year.

President is Dr. Barbara Audley, a Western Washington University retiree. Dr. Emily Citron, a retired physician, is secretary. Treasurers are Vaughn Hagen, of Vaughn Hagen CPA, and Jim Carney, of Gateway Center Executive Suites.

Board of director members who were installed are Ralph Gardner, of Gardner Life and Health Service; John Howe, a retiree; Anita Jackson, a retiree; Dr. Bruce Jorgensen, of Jorgensen Family Chiropractic; Russ Weston, a retiree; Chelsea Roy, of Wachovia Securities; Lyla Tjoelker, a retiree; John Wilson, of Wilson Furniture; Joan Dow, a retiree; and Rhonda Shaffer, of Bellingham Boys & Girls Club.

Jan Armstrong, of Peoples Bank, received the Kiwanian of the Year award. Other members presented with awards were Ralph Gardner, Rich Emerson, Dick Zagelow, Danielle Paskewitz and Bruce Jorgensen. Non-member Andrew Jackson also received an award. Alfred Dale, who has been a member for 60 years, and Robert Dawes, who has been a member for 50 years, were honored for their long-term Kiwanis membership.
