Kulshan Community Land Trust celebrates 100 homes

The Kulshan Community Land Trust (Kulshan CLT) is celebrating its 100th home with a family friendly party, which will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday Aug. 26 at the Boundary Bay Beer Garden. David Bowie tribute band Scary Monster and the Super Creeps will be playing and the first round is on the house for the first 200 patrons. A $10 suggested donation, raffle and giving tree will help support the trust.

In honor of the achievement, a few local restaurants will be offering special menu items from August through mid-September. La Fiamma will revive its Kulshan Community Land Crust pizza, Mallard Ice Cream will feature the Kulshan Cherry Liquor Treat and Boundary Bay Brewery will serve up its Kulshan Shingle-Hop Single-Hop beer.

“Kulshan CLT is one of the few community land trusts nationally to reach the landmark of 100 homes, and more than 100 families whose lives have been enriched by affordable homeownership,” executive director Dean Fearing said in a press release. “We’re proud of our track record and continue to work to meet the demand for affordable homes in our community. Thanks to our members and supporters for helping Kulshan CLT reach this milestone.”
