Kulshan Community Land Trust will host its 15th annual community party from 6-10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Boundary Bay Brewery in downtown Bellingham. The nonprofit provides affordable housing for middle-income people by assisting with a down payment. In exchange, the homeowner agrees that when they sell the house, it will be for a reduced price to a income-qualified individual.
The annual party started out as membership meeting before evolving into a more festive event, executive director Dean Fearing said in a press release.
“It’s basically a party,” he said. “A chance to touch base and see what we’ve been up to, grab a bite and a beer, and have fun.”
The party includes a barbecue, kids activities and live music. Kulshan Community Land Trust members can attend for free and it costs $15 for nonmembers. Admission includes a meal and a drink.
