Labels Consignment will move original store to James Street

Labels Women’s Consignment Store plans to move its original store located near downtown Bellingham to the former Al’s Honda property on James Street.

Labels recently purchased the 5,000-square-foot building at 2336 James St., just south of Sunnyland Square.

Store owner Sage Bishop opened Labels’ original Ellis Street location in 2004.

A second Labels store in Bakerview Square opened in 2007—later closing after another new store, Labels Northwest, opened earlier this year on Northwest Avenue, next to Chambers Chevrolet Cadillac.

Bishop said the James Street space is twice as large as Labels store on Ellis Street.

“The larger location also will enable us to add home décor and housewares as we did in February when our store on Northwest Avenue opened,” Bishop said, in a press release. “Labels Northwest has been very successful in offering side tables, photos, art and throw pillows, plus products for kitchens and dining rooms, to complement our lines of women’s clothing and accessories. We’d been looking at the James Street area, so we jumped at the opportunity when this property became available.”

A grand-opening date for the James Street location will be announced in 2013.
