Lakeway Center Menchie's frozen yogurt shop celebrates grand opening, April 28-29

The new Menchie’s Lakeway Center store is celebrating its grand opening from 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, through 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 29.

The Menchie’s chain of self-serve frozen yogurt stores has 175 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The Bellingham shop is the eighth Menchie’s to open in Washington.

The store is owned by Bellingham married couple Robert and Dayna Penney.

“Menchie’s provides a fun, upbeat place for families and friends to enjoy a delicious cup of frozen yogurt, so what better way to welcome in the community than with a weekend full of activities just for them,” Robert Penney said, in an April 24 press release. “Our guests have already embraced us, and this grand opening event is a way for us to thank our fans, as well as invite new guests into our store.”

Menchie’s stores offer guests self-serve stations with more than 100 rotating yogurt flavors from cake batter and pomegranate tart to chocolate silk and vanilla snow, as well as more than 70 rotating toppings including fresh fruits, granolas, nuts, an assortment of candies and hot fudges.

The chain’s frozen yogurt is made exclusively through its own private label.

The grand opening will include frozen yogurt and T-shirt giveaways, free face painting and a balloon artist from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 28.

The store is located at 1070 Lakeway Drive in Bellingham.
