The Whatcom County Library System Board of Trustees is looking to fill a vacancy for a partial term that runs through Dec. 31, 2019. Whatcom County residents with a passion for public libraries are encouraged to apply.
“It’s an exciting time to be a trustee for the Whatcom County Library System,” Executive Director Christine Perkins said in a press release. “we’re opening the new Ferndale Public Library soon, refining the design for a new library in Point Roberts, and piloting new projects like 3D printing at the Lynden Library.”
Trustees attend monthly public meetings and occasional special public meetings. Other duties include strategic planning, setting policy, appointing expenditures and payroll, and adopting an annual budget.
Regular meetings are held at 9 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the library system’s administrative and processing center, at 5205 Northwest Drive in Bellingham. The meeting day and time could be changed to accommodate a new trustee’s schedule, according to the news release.
