Local Red Cross, EMB Management form partnership

The Mount Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross has started a new partnership with EMB Management to provide additional assistance to Red Cross disaster clients.

Following an apartment fire  in May, EMB Management contacted the Red Cross offering assistance to the fire victims through its Associa Cares catastrophic relief fund.  Since then, the partnership between the Red Cross and EMB Management has grown and is now assisting families in both Whatcom and Skagit counties.

Most recently, the Red Cross assisted three families who lost their homes to a fire in Ferndale. The Red Cross provided shelter, food, clothing, medications and emotional support to the clients as Red Cross volunteers worked to reestablish them in new homes.  In addition to the Red Cross assistance provided, EMB Management—partnered with Associa Cares—rovided each of these families with $1,500 to assist with relocation costs.

The Mount Baker Chapter provided emergency services and lifesaving skills to more than 10,000 people last year.  The chapter currently has five staff members and more than 350 volunteers.
