A Mount Vernon nurse and volunteer from the Mount Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross has been deployed to help people affected by Hurricane Sandy’s aftermath in New York.
The nurse will assist with ongoing medical needs for the disaster victims.
In November and December 2012, 12 other volunteers were deployed from the Mount Baker Chapter to New York, New Jersey, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.
“The Mount Baker Chapter has exceptional volunteers who donate their time and services to disaster survivors every day,” said Stacy Rice, executive director of the Mount Baker Chapter, in a press release. “These volunteers are well trained in specific disaster needs and will provide great comfort and guidance to those they serve on the East Coast. The need is still great so everyone is encouraged to help as they are able.”
