Lynden Chamber board elects new members

The Bellingham Business Journal

Lynden Chamber of Commerce members recently elected Blake Starkenburg to the organization’s board of directors and re-elected JoLeigh Hager to a second three-year term on the board.

Also, the Lynden Chamber announced that Darrin Wisbey, Lynden branch manager for Wells Fargo Bank, will serve as board president and Amy Westerhof, director of resident relations at Lynden Manor Assisted Living, will be vice president this year.

Starkenburg and his wife Jodie are owners of Oldride.com, an internationally followed Web site for the buying and selling of vintage vehicles that has corporate offices in downtown Lynden. Starkenburg replaces Karen Timmer of Windermere Real Estate on the board after Timmer completed two three-year terms, including a term as board president.

Hager is a retired Verizon manager and one of the new Chamber Supporter Members. New for 2010, the Chamber Supporter Members category was created to allow those who are not currently active in area business to support the Lynden business community and Chamber-organized events.

“Both Blake and JoLeigh are excellent examples of business and community minded individuals giving their time to making Lynden a great place to live, work and play,” Wisbey said. “They are great resources as the Lynden Chamber of Commerce finds new and innovative ways to benefit members in a challenging economy.”

The Lynden Chamber of Commerce promotes local businesses and presents several popular regional events, including the Lynden Heritage Celebration, the Northwest Raspberry Festival and Lynden Lighted Christmas Parade.
