Lynden storage business gets new name, plans expansion

A local storage business is undergoing major transformation.

Business signs have been modified, delivery vehicles have been rebranded and hundreds of portable storage containers are being updated with new graphics as Big Steel Box in America becomes Simple Box Storage.

Simple Box co-owners Ross and Dave Black opened the business in 1997. It provides moving and storage solutions to customers in Whatcom, Skagit and Island counties.

The name change developed out of a challenge Blacks issued to themselves and their employees earlier this year to simplify processes for customers who were renting, buying or moving storage boxes.

“Moving is stressful enough, so our goal was to make it as simple as possible,” said Ross Black, in a press release. “The concept of ‘simple’ fits our own lifestyle, and it’s something that our customers have been searching for. We all want Simple Box operations to be clean and simple, and we all want a product that is delivered with great service and personality.”

Along with the new name, Simple Box has increased its focus on supporting local events and charities, including Ski-to-Sea, Muds to Suds, Habitat for Humanity, New Generation Haiti and Mount of Olives Children’s Village in Uruapan, Mexico.

Simple Box plans to expand into other Washington cities in the coming months.

The company is located at 7350 Guide Meridian Road in Lynden.
