Magician with local roots hosts benefit show for WWU pre-med scholarship

Sterling Dietz, an internationally acclaimed magician from Lynden, performs at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, on the main stage of Western Washington University’s Performing Arts Center.

The Magic of Sterling,” benefits the Whatcom County Medical Society’s Pre-Med Scholarship Endowment at WWU.

“It is an honor and privilege to host Sterling again this year,” said WCMS Executive Administrator Christopher Key, in a press release. “We are very fortunate that his well known generosity and sense of social responsibility are being directed toward our scholarship program.”

Dietz has established other scholarship programs as well, including ones in Lynden High School and Lynden Christian High School. He splits his time between performing for causes in the Pacific Northwest and performing at his own theater in Los Cabos, Mexico.

“I have always believed that it is important for each of us to recognize the gifts and talents we have been given,” Dietz said. “It is equally important that we find a way for those gifts and talents to be used in the service to others.”

Tickets for the show cost $15 and are available at Brown Paper Tickets.
