Two retail marijuana stores in Bellingham plan to open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Top Shelf Cannabis at 3857 Hannegan Road and 2020 Solutions at 2018 Iron Street will be among the first marijuana retailers in the state to open.
The state liquor control board emailed store owners at 2 a.m. Monday to approve their retail licenses. After a 24-hour waiting period, growers can begin transporting pot to retail stores. From there, retailers will rush to enter their merchandise in the state’s seed-to-sale tracking system and get it on store shelves.
The state liquor control board issued 24 licenses on Monday and more will be issued throughout the month. Not all 24 of the licensed shops will open by Tuesday.
