The Markets raise $6,000 for local Boys & Girls Clubs

Generous customers, along with The Markets, raised $6,000 over the summer in a two-week promotion at all nine stores on behalf of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Whatcom County.

“Round Up 4 Kids” encouraged customers to round up their purchases to the next dollar to benefit the 5,400 kids and teens who use the Boys and Girls Clubs in Bellingham, Birch Bay, Blaine, Ferndale, Lynden and Lummi Island.

The Market at Birch Bay, Food Pavilion stores in Bellingham and Lynden, Cost Cutter stores in Bellingham, Ferndale and Blaine, plus Everson Market hosted the fundraiser, now in its second year, to help support the important work of the clubs. The stores also donated to the Round Up again this year.

“What makes our programs so successful is having the support of the local community. Local businesses like The Markets are the catalyst for our sustainability and the future of our youth,” said Christine Destry, director of organizational advancement for the clubs.
