Markets supermarket chain raises $20K for area food banks

The Markets, a Northwest supermarket chain, recently donated over $20,000 to 16 community food banks. The donations were raised through the company’s annual Food For All holiday giving campaign.

This year, local recipients of the Bellingham-base grocers included the Bellingham Food Bank, Lighthouse Mission, Nooksack Valley Food Bank, Project Hope, Ferndale Food Bank and the Blaine Food Bank. These organizations also receive regular food donations from Market stores throughout the year. In Skagit and Snohomish Counties, local food banks receiving donation checks included Helping Hands Food Bank, Senior Meals on Wheels, Anacortes 100 Food Bank, Arlington, Darrington and Oso Food Banks.

The Markets has been a strong supporter of Food For All, the food industry’s crusade against hunger. Over 10 years, the company has raised and donated over $230,000 through the generosity of its customers and team members.
