Materials Testing & Consulting expands with mobile lab

Materials Testing & Consulting, Inc. (MTC) recently expanded its service territory to all of the Pacific Northwest with the addition of a mobile laboratory.

MTC previously performed tests and inspections on construction projects in western Washington with its labs in Burlington, Bellingham and Olympia.

“The mobile lab enables us to provide accurate results with quick turnaround times at project sites anywhere in Washington, Oregon and Idaho,” said Curtis Shear, MTC co-owner and quality assurance manager.

MTC also announced that its Burlington lab recently gained approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) to perform tests and inspections on construction projects under its oversight.

MTC’s labs in Burlington and Olympia are among just a few in western Washington that have met ACOE’s high standards for performing the combination of aggregate, bituminous, concrete, grout, masonry, mortar and soil tests for ACOE-administered projects.

“The validation of our Burlington lab gives us more capacity for serving the Seattle district of the ACOE, which is directing approximately $1 billion in projects over the next three years,” Shear said.

MTC offers geotechnical engineering, materials testing, special inspections and nondestructive testing services throughout Western Washington. MTC’s recent purchase of a mobile laboratory also enables it to serve more projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. The company, founded in 1981, focuses on the public works, refinery and military sectors and also has a strong track record on commercial and residential projects.

MTC’s offices are located at: 777 Chrysler Drive in Burlington, 2126 E. Bakerview Road in Bellingham and 2118 Black Lake Blvd. S.W. in Olympia. For more information, visit www.mtc-inc.net.
