Michael’s Books may not be closing after all, said a sign hanging from the door of the shop, at 109 Grand Ave., in downtown Bellingham.

Owner Michael Elmer announced in early October that the bookstore would close at the end of the year, because his wife got a job in Vancouver, Washington, and they’re moving.

Since announcing the closer, some interested buyers came forward and Elmer will negotiate the store’s future with several parties, he announced on the business’ Facebook page.

Elmer opened the store 32 years ago. It specializes in rare and out-of-print books.
