Bellis Fair Mall has issued new information on its planned remodel, which it expects to complete later this year.
The renovation to the 773,000-square-foot shopping center, located at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway in north Bellingham, will include aesthetic updates to its main entrances, new floor tile, new food-court amenities, including a fireplace with an attached video wall, as well as redesigned restrooms and an upgraded children’s play area.
“We’re excited to share the news of our transformation at Bellis Fair,” Janet Hendeson, the mall’s senior general manager, said, in a press release. “By the end of the year locals and tourists alike will see a warmer more inviting center, with colors and textures of the outdoors brought inside.”
The center was previously upgraded in 2003 with new lighting, paint, signage, and seating areas. The current project will be larger in scope.
Culp Construction Company, which has main offices in Utah and California, is the project’s contractor. Culp has completed several other projects for General Growth Properties Inc., the owner and manager of Bellis Fair, according to the construction company’s website.
The contractor is working with several local construction-service providers in the renovation, which is expected to be complete by November, said Jean Marohn, marketing coordinator for Bellis Fair. Some preliminary work is already underway at the mall.
Marohn said local contractors seeking more information can email Travis Goldston, operation manager for Bellis Fair, at Travis.Goldston@ggp.com.
Most of the construction will be done at night to minimize inconvenience to shoppers, Marohn said.
General Growth Properties, which is based in Chicago, Ill., operates 125 regional malls in the U.S., and 18 malls in Brazil. It owns several large shopping centers in Washington state, including Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood, Westlake Center in Seattle, as well as the Spokane Valley Mall and Spokane’s NorthTown Mall.
