Pickford Film Center has received a donation matching challenge from an anonymous longtime supporter to support the nonprofit’s campaign to buy new digital projectors.
The mystery donor will match up to $32,500 in individual donations made through December.
The Pickford is attempting to raise $225,000 to purchase new digital equipment that will be needed after an industry-wide mandate will soon shift all Hollywood movie releases from 35 mm film reels to a new digital format, known at the Digital Cinema Package.
So far, the film center has raised $85,000.
PFC board and staff are encouraging the Bellingham community and others to help them match the mystery donor’s challenge by making donations by Monday, Dec. 31.
Pickford Film Center is a 501(c)3 organization and all donations are tax-deductible.
Donations can be made at either of PFC’s locations downtown or online at www.pickfordfilmcenter.org, or directly through its Crowdrise page at www.crowdrise.com/PFCDigitalDeadline/fundraiser/pickfordfilm
