NASA names Western assistant professor a participating scientist on Mars Curiosity Rover Team

Western Washington University’s Melissa Rice, assistant professor of geology, has been named by NASA as a participating scientist on the Mars Curiosity Rover science team. It is grant-funded position, and will pay for the stipend and tuition for two of Rice’s graduate students to work on the project. Rice has been on the Curiosity and Opportunity teams for years, but this new position will grant her students more collaboration with the NASA team.
