New space for Little Tiger Toys: Downtown toy store moving to Grand Avenue

Little Tiger Toys, a downtown Bellingham toy store featuring a variety of toys and games for all ages, will move to a new location on May 1 at 112 Grand Ave.

Store manager Selah Tay-Song said the store has outgrown its space at 1417 Railroad Ave.

The new 2,000-square-foot location has about twice as much room.

“We’ve been packing the toys in very tight for the last couple of years,” Tay-Song said, in an April 17 press release. “We’re really excited to be able to de-squeeze our store and bring in brands that customers have been requesting for a long time, but we just haven’t had space for. We’ll also be able to add more display tables and play areas for customers to try out the toys before they buy.”

Little Tiger Toys was opened in 2008 by a local business group which also owns the downtown Mexican restaurant Casa Que Pasa.

Tay-Song said the restaurant’s owners plan to remodel the building and expand the restaurant’s seating into the former toy store space.

“We’ll miss having lunch at Casa,” Tay-Song said. “But I’m excited about our new neighbors. The Black Drop is one of my favorite spots, and I love books so being on the bookstore block will be delightful for me personally. I also love that we’ll be so close to the new Pickford, the Lightcatcher Museum and the library.”

Little Tiger Toys will be closed April 29-30 for the move.

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
