New women's organization hopes to donate $10,000 to a local nonprofit

A new women’s organization plans to write 100 checks for $100 each to a local nonprofit on Oct. 15.

The group, 100+ women of Whatcom, formed with a goal of making a positive impact through charitable giving, according to a press release from the group.

Members plan to gather twice a year to learn about nominated Whatcom nonprofits. Through a vote, members will select one nonprofit to receive individual checks from each member for $100 each. With 100 members all writing $100 checks, the selected nonprofit will receive $10,000 total.

All Whatcom County residents who identify as women are welcome to attend, according to a press release from the organization. The Oct. 15 meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Historic Roeder Home in Bellingham. For more information and to sign up, visit www.100womenofwhatcom.com.
