NFL pros will sign autographs at gym grand opening

Jake Locker, Tennessee Titans quarterback, and Michael Koenen, punter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will sign autographs for new gym members from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Locker Room gym, at 1859 Main Street in Ferndale.

Their appearance is part of the gym’s grand opening celebration. Locker and Koenen along with Woods Coffee owner Wes Herman bought the former Thrive Fitness gym late last year, and opened it as the Locker Room on Dec. 1.

“We are excited to have Jake and Michael back from their NFL seasons to celebrate our grand opening,” Herman said in a press release. “New members will be treated very well.”

In addition to Locker and Koenen signing autographs, the grand opening event will include $1 first month memberships, sports bottle giveaways, and drawings for additional prizes for new members, as well as refreshments and demo group fitness classes. Ferndale Mayor Gary Jensen will take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.

According to a press release, the Locker Room’s mission statement is two-fold: community fitness and individual growth. In addition to giving members the choice of training either at their own pace or with professional-planned workouts, the Locker Room will offer an improved workout space, with better lighting and new décor, as well as the addition of new classes.
