Nonprofit holding recreation expo on March 12

Recreation Northwest is holding its second annual Recreation Northwest Expo at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at the Best Western Lakeway Inn in Bellingham. Recreation Northwest is a Bellingham-based nonprofit that promotes outdoor recreation.

The free expo will have a collection of representatives and exhibitors from local and regional events and businesses. Exhibitors include Moondance Sea Kayak Adventures, American Alpine Institute, Vital Choices Wild Seafood & Organics, McNett/Gear Aid, Fairhaven Runners and REI.

Event speakers are Krissy Moehl, a long-distance runner from Bow, Washington, who races all over the world and directs the Chuckanut 50K, and Pulitzer Prize winner William Dietrich and North Cascade Institute communications coordinator Christian Martin. Dietrich and Martin are authors of “The North Cascades: Finding Beauty and Renewal in the Wild Nearby,” which came out in 2014.

Expo guests can register at the expo or online to have a chance at winning door prizes.
