David Norbut, general manager of the Best Western PLUS Lakeway Inn & Conference Center in Bellingham, has been appointed to the board of Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism (BWCT).

Norbut will fill a BWCT board vacancy with a term expiring in May 2012. He has more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry and now oversees the 132-room Lakeway Inn, its two restaurants and 11,000 square feet of meeting space — the largest meeting facility in Whatcom County.

“Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism does a fantastic job of promoting our region, attracting tourists and business groups that are vital to our economy,” Norbut said. “I’m pleased to have the opportunity to work with others in telling the public about our beautiful destinations.”
